Poverty (SATB, Piano)

$5.00

An emotional Choral, Gospel, and R&B ballad for intermediate to advanced choirs. Poverty is defined as a state of being inferior in quality or insufficient in amount. This song is meant to bring awareness to the many different forms of poverty in hopes to deliver a message that there isn’t a hierarchy to suffering. As humans, we’re all are dealing with issues, but what helps us conquer our own poverty is using our blessings to help others conquer theirs. Opening with spiritual poverty (borrowing text from Matthew 11:28), the lyrical content uses double entendres commonly associated with absolute poverty (lack of means to meet basic needs like food, clothing, shelter, etc.) to shed light on social poverty (loneliness, etc.), mental poverty (depression, etc.), health poverty, and economic poverty. The most valuable things in life are priceless, and when they are missing it often leaves us feeling empty inside.
